# timeUtc

### tools.timeUtc

Type: **DateTime**

Returns the current time in [Coordinated Universal Time](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time) ([UTC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time)).

### Examples

```
// display the current UTC time in the debugger
debug.log(tools.timeUtc);
```

This is the current time in [Coordinated Universal Time](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time) ([UTC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time)) format.
