# dateText

### tools.dateText

Type: **Text**

Returns the current date in **MM/dd/yyyy** format.

### Examples

```
// display the current date in the debugger
debug.log(tools.dateText);
```

### Remarks

Use this property when you need a **Text-based** representation of the current date.

Normal **DateTime** comparisons and operations cannot be performed on **Text** objects.
