# date

### tools.date

Type: **DateTime**

Returns the current local date, according to the host device.

### Examples

```
// display the current date in the debugger
debug.log(tools.date);
```

### Remarks

This is the current date of the device hosting your app instance, which is typically the local date of the user.

> If you want the date measured in Universal time instead (across the entire globe), use [tools.dateUtc](http://docs.doc-know.com/v1/docs/tools-dateutc).
